Fantasy Canyon is located far from the usual stone formations of southern Utah’s otherworldly landscapes. Fantasy Canyon is located in the Northeastern part of Utah. Located about 27 miles south of Vernal, Utah and east of the White River, Fantasy Canyon is a small canyon with some of the most grotesque miniature formations I have ever seen. The erosion has left formations that defy gravity and force the mind to try and see characters of all sorts in the shapes and shadows that they create.

The drive to find Fantasy Canyon is unimpressive and can be tricky due to the myriad of roads leading to oil wells that dot the landscape.  On my travel there I found that there are not any signs indicating the direction to the canyon but, if you take a wrong road chances are there will be a road to get you back on track. The area maybe updated with signage now.  To secure directions using the most direct route I suggest the BLM  Or by simply typing into your browser “Fantasy Canyon” should give you plenty of directions, such as this one.

The canyon maybe small and the drive may be a bit long to find this place but, the reward is worth spending a little time exercising your imagination in Fantasy Canyon. Happy hunting.
