The Photographer

Born and raised in Utah.  I have a degree in Marketing from Utah State University. I have spent the greater part of my life exploring the diverse geography of the state of Utah.

I have enjoyed photography for some 40 years.  I feel most at home photographing the wonderful landscapes around me, from the deserts and canyon country, to the high mountains.  It is during these adventures that I get to really “see” nature in all its grandeur.  Initially while raising a family my exploration was limited by the seasons of northern Utah to May through September or October, however with my children all grown I was able to branch out to a longer season of hiking and photographing the wonders of the state.

Much of Utah is desert or canyon country and I have spent many days exploring and photographing these unique landscapes. The desert and canyon areas in the Southwest are among the last regions of virgin wilderness left to explore. It was in 2006 that I first saw a photograph of The Wave in the Coyote Buttes area in northern Arizona. It is a remarkable formation and I was immediately intrigued by this unique area. This desert region beckoned and I answered the call. Since this adventure to the warmer south my hiking and exploring season is now from early February to late November.

A lifelong passion for Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, North Coyote Buttes and “The Wave”  area was born. Over the course of a few years and several trips to the area, I  have discovered hidden treasures and breathtaking vistas seldom seen by the typical visitor to the area.  I have been rewarded with wonderful sights and experiences which I wish to share with you. I continue to explore the region and have found that South Coyote Buttes and White Pocket also hold wonderful treasurers. I strong desire to share what these areas offer led to the publishing of photo books in a series celebrating what is Beyond. Check them out here!

I currently live in Heber City, Utah with my family.
